BACK-COUNTRY HORSE TREKKING AT ITS BEST – no nose-to-tail here!

A unique and genuine back-country trekking experience that will build confidence in a beginner and satisfy even the experienced. You don't have to be a guest in the cottage to go horse trekking – this is open to the public.

Ride western-style on our well-mannered horses over private farmland and forestry in the foothills of the Kaweka Ranges - spotting the wildlife (pigs, pheasants, native birds and the occasional feral sheep), and taking in the panoramic views over picturesque Hawke's Bay, guided by third generation farmers. Make the trip out to us for a genuine kiwi experience set apart from the rest by our stunning location, farm hacks and friendly, knowledgeable guides. 

All levels of riding are catered for and treks range from 1 1/2 hrs, 3 hrs, to all day rides. We provide the horses and all the gear OR you can bring your own horse/s when you come and stay at our cottage - enquire about this option.

We can take up to five people but please enquire if you have a slightly larger group as we may be able to accommodate you.

HOLIDAY WITH YOUR HORSE! - Don't want to leave your horse at home while you go on holiday? Why not bring it with you and take part in our treks on your own horse? How many places can you do that! A small paddock charge will apply.

Our horses are used regularly on the farm so are well used to any activity going on around them. We ride western-style and safety equipment is provided.

EXCLUSIVE TREKS FOR THAT SPECIAL OCCASION - A 'must-do' for a special occasion for that horse-mad loved one. 

Picture this - a private 3 hour trek through beautiful farmland and forestry, climbing up to 600m to take in the view back to Napier/Hastings.  Enjoy the view while sipping on nice cool bubbly and eating nibbles provided by us. It would certainly be a memorable occasion and one your beloved would not forget in a hurry!
